About Erin IVY
Erin Ivy had the privilege of spending her childhood in rural Southern Ontario, where countless moments in the fields, woods or by the creek developed a deep love and appreciation for the natural world. A mostly self-taught artist, she has spent the last two decades creating bodies of work which utilized found objects and upcycled materials. Her current practice is place-focused,
prioritizing the creation of site-specific hand- foraged and created pigments: charcoal, inks,
dyes, watercolours and crayons. The place-based media are reflected in the images she uses. She draws inspiration from her experience as a mother and her desire to see a better world for all the next generations.
She is the founder of the Antler River Nature Journal Club, and a proud member of the Tour Guide Association at Museum London. She raises her riparian children in the Blackfriars Neighbourhood, near the Forks of the Thames, along the Deshkan Ziibi in London, Ontario,
Canada.

Artist statement
Drawing inspiration from my sense of place, my priorities are obvious in my artwork.
Motherhood, connection to the natural world, and living as a creative. The future I hope for the children of the next generations guides the lens of the images I chose. Art with recycled materials and locally foraged pigments reinforces my commitment to those who will inherit the places we make. My goal as an artist is to reignite the child-like love we have for our natural world so that more people prioritize our future places.
